There is the translation of "histoire du tango"

- The tango is a type of music wich reflect the popular Argentinian soul in all its authenticity. Its origin dates back from the end of the 19th century, when waves of european migrants came to settle in the towns of Buenos Aires and Montevideo. The socio-cultural mix was the origin of a musical melting-pot between the "candobe" of the ancient African slaves, the sensual "habaneras" from Andalousia, the austere "melopees" of the Italian "mezzogornio" and the lively creoles "milongas" already popular in Argentina. The tango was born from this extraordinary mixture around 1870.

- Just before World War One, the tango arrived in the European cafes, and its success gave it a world reputation and made it the symbol of the Argentinian creativity. The musical record industry has been the second factor of its development and Carlos Gardel was the greatest singer of all times.

- The influence of the tango decreased at the end of 30's, return under the Peronist's politic movement between 1944 and 1955 when it was considered part of the best popular culture. In the 60's it lost its luster to other kinds of musical expressions, the rock'n roll made it sound obsolete until it recovered at the end of the 70's with a great musicien Astor Piazzola, who nevovated it by introducing some tones of rock and of jazz. For the last ten years it has developed very much in France and in Germany, probably because of the great wealth of choregraphic variations and improvisations that it allows.
